Sources

Every fact on this site carries a source, a date it was last verified, and a status. If a fact is not in a source we can point you to, it is not on this site.

• Official filings from the Federal Election Commission or the Tennessee Secretary of State.
• Government records: bill text, roll-call votes, and meeting minutes.
• Statements the candidate has published themselves.
• News reporting that quotes the candidate directly.

When we do not know

If we have not located a public position from a candidate on an issue, that field stays empty and shows the standard line: "Guide the Vote has not located a public position from this candidate on this issue as of [date]." We never fill a gap with a guess and we never infer a position from a candidate's party.

Status labels

• Confirmed — verified against an official source.
• Preliminary — sourced, but the source may still be updated.
• Awaiting certification — official results not yet certified.
• Proposed — draft, not shown to the public.

Neutrality

We do not endorse, rank, rate, grade, or score candidates. We do not predict who will win. We do not publish comparative campaign finance tables. We link every candidate identically to their official filing instead. We do not use party colors, party icons, checkmarks, stars, or any approval symbol next to a candidate's name.

Language rules

In our own voice we avoid loaded political labels. These words appear on this site only inside a directly attributed quotation:

common-sense, extreme, radical, anti-family, pro-family, soft on crime, tough on crime, socialist, fascist, establishment, MAGA extremist, woke, career politician, champion, courageous, proven conservative, and gerrymander as an assertion about a specific map.

We describe what candidates have said and done. "The candidate supports…" / "voted for…" / "Supporters argue…" / "Critics argue…" / "Public records show…" / "The candidate has not published…"

Corrections

If you believe a fact on this site is wrong, tell us. Include a link to the source you think we missed. We update this site as information changes.
