If your property taxes went up, the county commission voted for it — not the county mayor.
Davidson County: Nashville does not have a separate county commission. The Metro Council serves that role and is elected in 2027.
Main responsibilities

- Approves appropriations, including the total school budget
- Passes county resolutions
What this office cannot do alone
- Cannot run county departments day to day.
- Cannot tell the school board how to spend its money. The commission sets the total; the school board allocates it.
- Cannot direct the Sheriff's operations.
